Criminal defense law is obviously extremely complicated and requires years of experience to master. That’s why Jonathan Turner, practicing criminal defense law since 1997, is able to achieve such great results for his clients. The following are some sample cases that Jonathan Turner has handled with excellent results for his clients due to his understanding and experience of criminal defense law.

Domestic Violence: I, Criminal Defense Law Attorney Jonathan Turner, represented a man accused of felony domestic violence against his ex-wife. Both the male client and his wife had injuries when the police responded but the police arrested only the male. If convicted, this man not only faced the prospect of a lengthy jail sentence but also losing his children in a custody dispute with his wife. However, I was able to obtain telephone call recordings, medical records and statements of witnesses to the physical confrontation. This evidence revealed that the ex-wife was actually the aggressor. As such, the district attorney dismissed all charges against my client.

Driving Under the Influence: My client was found asleep in her car on the side of the road. Because she had alcohol on her breath and was the owner of the car, CHP arrested her for DUI. In fact, DUI arrests in situations where the police do not even witness the arrestee driving seem to becoming more common. Fortunately for my client, I was able to do exhaustive investigation and legal research that persuaded the district attorney that their case would be difficult to prove at trial thus leading to a complete dismissal. My client happened to be in the fire department academy and had she been convicted of this DUI her dreams of becoming a firefighter would have been dashed.

Vehicular Manslaughter: My client was involved in an accident in which another driver was killed. As such, he was charged with vehicular manslaughter which jeopardized his career in the military. But, through investigation that led to obtaining statements from previously unknown witnesses to the accident, it was determined that my client was not speeding or otherwise driving recklessly prior to the accident. As such, all charges were dropped.

Grand Theft Auto: My client was accused of stealing a rental car and was facing a number of years in prison. But, through investigation including issuing subpoenas for the rental company’s records and talking to its employees, it was determined that the missing vehicle was due to a misunderstanding and poor record keeping on the part of the rental car company. The charges were dropped in their entirety.

UC Davis Student Cases: I have represented a number of UC Davis students in mostly alcohol-related cases often occurring on Picnic Day. These have included public intoxication, minor in possession of alcohol, and fights. Through investigation and aggressive advocacy I have been able to obtain dispositions nearly every time for these UC Davis students that allow them to enroll in alcohol education classes in exchange for the dismissal of their cases.

Firearm Possession: My client was accused of attempting to go through security at the airport with a hand gun in his luggage. This was obviously treated initially as a very serious offense. However, illegal firearm possession generally requires that the guilty party have knowledge of the weapon’s presence be it in a jacket, a bag or a car. In this case, I was able to convince the court that my client was unaware that the gun was in his bag at the time he went to the airport. Therefore, the case was dismissed.

Drug Sales: My client was charged with possession of methamphetamine for sales. This was based on the quantity of the drug she had on her. However, I established that she did not have any of the other usual indicia of a drug seller such as large quantities of cash or individual baggies. As such, the sales charge was dismissed and the client was eligible to participate in the county’s drug court/drug diversion program and get the entire matter dismissed and ultimately sealed and destroyed.

Relief from Sex Registration: My client was convicted a number of years ago of misdemeanor child molest/annoyance (CA Penal Code Section 647.6). After participating in counseling and remaining a law abiding citizen for a number of years he hired me to petition the court for a certificate of rehabilitation on his behalf. After interviews with the DA’s office and a hearing before a judge, the petition was granted thus relieving my client of the obligation of having to register as a sex offender per CA Penal Code section 290.

The above are just a small sampling of the hundreds of criminal cases I have handled with excellent results. If you need an experienced criminal defense attorney with a proven track record, contact me, Jonathan Turner with the Law Office of Jonathan Turner.
